Subhash K. Batra, Ph. D., dr. h.
Dr. Batra has had a distinguished career at Battelle Memorial Institute, MIT and as a professor in the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University. His education includes receiving a bachelors from Delhi University in India, two masters degrees from MIT, and a PhD from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York. Currently, he is Professor Emeritus as well as Director Emeritus of the Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center. His accomplishments as an academic, researcher, and association participant are quite extensive, with a substantial nonwovens background. He has many honors: a Lifetime Achievement Award from INDA, is a Sloan Industry Fellow and Visiting Professor of Harvard University, the Hollingsworth and Vose award from Nonwovens Division of TAPPI, the Charles A. Cannon Professorship, College of Textiles, NCSU, and "Doctor Honoris Causa," Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic, among many others. He has chaired and spoken at conferences and symposia internationally. During his career, he has been active as a consultant and served as technical expert at several law firms.
Dr. Batra has many professional affiliations, including a life membership in ASME (Fellow), The Fiber Society (Honorary Member), Sigma Xi (Life Member), The Textile Institute (Fellow), American Academy of Mechanics (Founding member), New York Academy of Science, Phi Kappa Phi. He has served as president of the Fiber Society. and its Secretary for seven years.
